Hurricane Sally struck the Florida Panhandle exactly sixteen years after the last major storm, Hurricane Ivan, on September 16th. Santa Rosa County officials said estimated 1,400 Santa Rosa County residences were impacted by Hurricane Sally, including six homes that were destroyed and 139 that suffered major damage.

SAFER Santa Rosa County provides needs based assistance to elderly and disabled residents throughout the county, such as wheelchair ramp construction.

On Monday, May 4, 2020, the Five Mile Swamp fire broke out in the Pensacola Bay Mitigation Bank located near Milton, Fla. The fire, which consumed nearly 2,300 acres at its peak, destroyed 14 homes and caused more than $1.9 million in property damage.
